“24″

August 25, 2008

We all want to live a life that matters.  Establishing priorities is the first step, followed by actually planning our schedules so that we live according to our values.  This is the ‘BALANCE’ we seek.  Next we need to embrace change so that we can live a life of IMPACT.  Change is inevitable.  The only real choice that we have is our RESPONSE to change.  When we embrace it, God allows us to re-script our lives.  Remember, your future is nothing more than the accumulation of ‘todays and tomorrows.’  Embrace life, live your priorities- God will bless you!  See you next week for our new series, TOUGH GUYS!

Great to Be Back!

Whew! If you’ve never driven to Prudhoe Bay, you are missing one of North America’s most amazing trips.  The drive is about 900 miles from here.  We saw musk-oxen, moose, caribou, dall sheep, grizzly bears, fox and numbers of smaller animals.  Much of the road is gravel north of Fairbanks.  I recommend taking extra gas and an extra spare tire for the trip.  Anyway… we had another great Sunday.  Thanks for being so faithful to invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers.  Remember- your simple invitation to another person could change his or her life for eternity!  God Bless! -Brad

Change

August 6, 2008

I once heard a pastor say, “Change isn’t change until something changes.”  So often our temptation is to resist it.  I remember being upset when my family switched from the old rotary dial phone to a push-button!  I have no idea why that would bother me- other than the fact that it was ‘change.’  God is all about change.  Beginning on day one of creation, after each day he said basically, “This is good.  I like this.”  Even so, he changed it on day two, again day three, and so on.  As his plan for the world unfolds, things are constantly changing.  Jesus said, “I will build my church…”  That means change.  The Crossing family has experienced enormous change in the past decade.  We purchased land, built a new church, redesigned space again and again, changed our style, our name…   Given my natural inclination to resist change, sometimes I wonder how I have survived this long!  Why go through it again and again?  Because change is inevitable.  We cannot be faithful to our mission (The Great Commission) and NOT change.  Reaching people- growing- discipling- change, change, change.  I have to remind myself regularly of this truth- CHANGE IS GOOD!!!  We are now tackling another HUGE change in the form of a new education wing- the BRIDGE.  I am thankful to be part of what God is doing here.  Thanks for being such an awesome church!
